Depressor supercilii

  • The depressor supercilii (also depressor supercilii muscle, latin: musculus depressor supercilii) is a facial muscle of the eye region.

The depressor supercilii originates from the medial orbital rim, from the fascia covering the lower part of the nasal bone. It inserts into the skin below the eyebrow, and in the intercanthal region.

The main action of the depressor supercilii is the depression of the eyebrows.

The depressor supercilii is innervated by the temporal branch of  the facial nerve (CN VII).
