Gemellus inferior

  • The gemellus inferior (also inferior gemellus, inferior gemellus muscle, gemellus inferior muscle, latin: musculus gemellus inferior)  is a muscle of the posterior muscle group of the pelvic girdle.

The gemellus inferior originates from the ischial tuberosity. The gemellus inferior inserts on the trochanteric fossa of the femur.

The main function of the inferior gemellus is the external rotation of the femur.
